Love and danger aren’t supposed to go hand in hand.
Crash Morgan is the guy his boss sends when someone needs to get
assassinated. Sometimes the best thing for society is to eliminate the worst
that humanity has to offer and Crash is very good at doing that. When he’s sent
to interrogate Elijah Spade, he’s a bit out of his element. Talking to the
suspect isn’t exactly where he excels. What’s even worse is Crash feels
protective of Elijah.
Purchase at Extasy Books
Excerpt
Elijah’s eyes started to close and his head lolled on his neck as
he started to fall asleep sitting up. Elijah came awake with a start when his
head dipped just a little too far.
“Lay down,” Crash whispered.
“No. I’m good.”
“You’re tired, Elijah. And still recovering.”
“I’m okay.”
“Why won’t you lay down?”
“I don’t want to make you uncomfortable,” Elijah whispered back.
A nurse came in then. If she found it odd that Crash was now on
the bed with Elijah she didn’t show it. Instead, she said, “I’m just checking
on you.” She walked over to the I.V. and felt around where the needle went into
his arm. When she was satisfied she looked at the machine and touched a few
buttons, making some sort of adjustment. She smiled at Elijah and said, “Can I
bring you anything?”
“No, thank you.”
She looked at Crash then and asked, “What about you?”
“If you wouldn’t mind shutting off the lights.” Maybe that would
make Elijah so tired he got over his shyness enough to actually take care of
himself.
The nurse did what he asked as she left the room.
“Do you want me to get off the bed? Would that get you to lay
down?”
“No!”
“Then lay down, Elijah.”
Elijah bit his lip and looked at Crash out of the corner of his
eyes. “I still don’t want to.”
Crash sighed and started to get up. Elijah put a hand on his arm.
“It’s because I’m hard and I didn’t want you to feel it. I don’t want you to be
grossed out.” Elijah’s face was so red Crash was sure the poor guy was going to
pass out.
“You do know I’m gay, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then you know I like boners just as much as the next gay man
does. See, no problem.” Crash put an arm around his waist and pulled him
closer, urging him to lie next to him.
“You don’t find me disgusting?”
Crash scowled, then. “What the hell would make you think that?”
Elijah shrugged. Crash saw the tears build up in his eyes and then
reached behind him to the bedside table to grab a tissue.
Elijah scooted down even more, trapping Crash’s arm beneath him.
Poor Elijah was lying at a weird angle because of it so Crash pulled his arm
out from under him, giving him the comfort he needed.
Crash held the tissue up to his face and dried his tears. After he
was finished, he pulled Elijah into him, being careful of the tube in his arm.
“That’s right,” Crash said when Elijah turned his head, lying against Crash’s
chest. “We fit together.”
