My Sexy Saturday, week #81

Welcome to My Sexy Saturday, week #81.

This week's theme is about my sexy addiction, about the time you knew you were in love. Regardless of the time or place, you just - knew.
Below is an excerpt from Shadowed Origins, second in the Anath series.

“Julien. From now on, just Julien. Okay? Besides, don’t you eat during the week, too?” As Julien unfolded his arms and leaned farther forward, her sudden intake of breath told him he’d scored.
The rest of her body seemed to freeze in place. His forefinger under her chin brought her gaze up. Nothing could prepare him for the collision of their stares. Her wide fearful gaze blasted a figurative hole in his chest.

A Writer’s Journey - The webs we weave

Over the coming months I’ll post some of the pitfalls/stumbling blocks/triumphs of what some writers go through. In the beginning…there’s a desire to become a writer.

First – you write a book
Step One – Buy Word program.
Step Two – Develop story line in your head
Step Three – Learn Word Program
Step Four – Hire kid to teach you word program.
Step Five – Maintain focus and write while word constantly changes your formatting
Step six – Research relaxation techniques.

True: The writers I know love what they do.
False: It’s so easy, you just sit in front of your computer, focus your mind and type, regardless of distractions. (ex. The room you’re in is a frosty 58 degrees.)

Sometimes it’s the little things that turn your mind to mush. My husband and I had a chilling start to our day, outside – it’s 5 degrees not taking wind chill into account. At 4 AM, the heat pump stopped working (of course). Happy Birthday hubby.

Reily Garrett

Carnal Beginnings by Reily Garrett

An impulsive decision can alter the course of your life.
Adara’s enigmatic and sexy boss asks her a simple question. “How are you going to celebrate your twenty-first birthday?” Sounds innocent enough, until he suggests she go to Ambrosia, the infamous BDSM club. To volunteer for scars and bruises is not on her to-do list. When Julien invades her personal space, her body goes into panic mode and fails to respond appropriately. Since her adoptive parents died six years ago, she’s endured horrific tortures at the hands of her sadistic and perverted uncle and cousin. Her long-awaited birthday, and inheritance, are days away. She longs for and plans to escape. Julien Crofton is an ex-Special Forces private investigator. Since he hired Adara six months ago, her subtle signs of ongoing abuse have tied him in knots. And not the good kind. Time and again, he’s encouraged her to open up and talk to him. After disastrous results in a previous case where a client refused his help, he’s determined history won’t repeat itself. Surely he could help her and keep his heart intact. The fact she’s as beautiful as sin should have no bearing on his intent to teach her to not fear men. When he resorts to an underhanded tactic to crack her invisible suit of armor, he’s unprepared for the tidal wave of lust and protectiveness that swamps him. Even while evading her family and an unknown psychopathic stalker, passion ignites. In progressive increments, Julien fans her spark of infatuation into a raging inferno. Can Adara learn that perhaps not all men are evil and maybe…whips can be fun?

Carnal Beginnings Excerpt

The setting sun reminded him her husband would be off work soon, probably carry his rage home looking for a target. Lord, this brought back some of his own buried memories. No time for that now.
A combination of ignorance and nonchalance framed the bull’s eye she wore on her forehead. He’d advised her to leave home two days ago. They could handle legalities later but not if she lacked a pulse. Stubborn woman insisted on returning. Her late morning call today surprised him, finally ready to pack and leave. Failure to meet him at his office did not.
This woman needed help, even if she didn’t realize it. As a private investigator, he’d seen this scenario rehearsed many times. For reasons unknown, human nature’s broken record played out on the Mobius strip, fate having trapped him in the loop.

Love should never be a choice between family and the man who’s claimed your heart.
A warrior’s life is the only one Kiera’s known since her psychic brethren adopted her from the streets as a child. Though she possesses equal preternatural ability and fighting skills, they will always see her as their youngest and in need of protection. According to their leader’s psychic vision, her twofold destiny includes saving a computer prodigy’s life and a mate who pulls her from death’s clutches. Carlin, an electronics genius, develops software/hardware which could destroy any government. Without malicious intent, he seeks to prove possibilities beyond his current reality. Bored with the aspects of his social life, he yearns for a family. When Kiera saves Carlin from the clutches of a psychic terrorist who stalks him for his program and skills, neither is prepared for the immediate connection formed. From the first skirmish, both their lives are caught up in a maelstrom of danger and desire. Kiera struggles to keep Carlin and his work from the terrorist who wants to destroy the U.S. while resisting the extraordinary attraction between them. Can Carlin convince her they were meant for each other and survive her warrior brethren?

Shadowed Horizons - Snippet

Carlin strode beside his bodyguard through the dimly lit parking garage fidgeting with his keys. “Adam, this does not make it to my top five favorite places to visit.”
A rat skittered across the floor in the shadows, and he imagined it turning a gimlet-eyed stare on its intruders. Filth, gas, and pizza from a nearby restaurant thickened the air, reminiscent of the alley apartment he occupied during college. Small pools of dingy light challenged macabre shadows for dominance—and lost. Clashing of the bleak rays and murky silhouettes added an ominous, prophetic feeling he couldn’t shake. Water stains mingled with the shadows to create fleeting two dimensional monsters. Carlin was not a fan of Rorschach. Crap, I haven’t been spooked like this in years.
